eCentric Switch was founded in Rondebosch Cape Town by a group of payment industry specialists. The company is now known as Ecentric Payment Systems (name changed in 2013).

September, 2004

Our market leading Enterprise Reconciliation service, ReconAssist™ is launched at Woolworths, providing an end-to-end automated reconciliation solution with data enrichment, higher match rates and improved control.

Ecentric Payment Systems together with Capitec Bank implements a fast and reliable in-store payment sending and receiving service for Shoprite.


Bankcard Payment Processing for Clicks

April, 2006

Ecentric Payment Systems facilitate bankcard acceptance at Clicks, enabling acceptance of all major credit cards and debit cards through Ecentric’s near 100% uptime payment network.



TFG Appoints Ecentric Payment Systems

June 2007

Ecentric Payment Systems awarded payment processing and reconciliation contract for TFG, across fourteen TFG brands with two acquiring banks. Ecentric implements the first Retail Active/Active solution in South Africa, ensuring high in-store payment availability.

Pep Stores Appoints Ecentric Payment Systems

November 2007

Dual acquirer Active/Active payment processing goes live at PEP stores nationwide.



Standard Bank Appoints Ecentric

January 2008

Standard Bank appoints Ecentric Payment Systems for reconciliation service powered by ReconAssist™.

PCI DSS Level1 certification achieved
